Support Services
Who can access HBCF support services?
Our free support services are available to eligible people across the Hunter region who are undergoing active treatment for breast cancer or those who are navigating a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis.
Do your services cost anything?
No. All HBCF support services are provided free of charge.
What types of support does HBCF offer?
We provide practical, non-medical support, including:
- Transport to and from medical appointments
- Cleaning and lawn care
- Support during treatment and recovery
Do I need a referral to access support?
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to request support.
Can I request support on behalf of someone else?
Yes. You’re welcome to contact us on behalf of a loved one, friend or family member.
How do I apply for support?
You can request support via Support Services page or by contacting our team directly. We’ll guide you through the next steps.
How long does it take to receive support?
We aim to respond as quickly as possible. Timing can depend on availability and demand, but we prioritise urgent needs wherever we can.
Is there a limit to how much support I can receive?
Support is assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure we can help as many people as possible while meeting individual needs.
What areas do you service?
Our services are available to eligible people across the Hunter region.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. All personal information is treated with care, respect and confidentiality.
Transport Services
What kind of transport does HBCF provide?
We provide transport to and from medical and treatment-related appointments.
Who provides the transport?
Transport is provided by trained and approved volunteer drivers, as well as local hire car organisations and taxi & Uber services.
Can someone travel with me?
In most cases, yes. Please discuss this with our team when requesting support.
Do I need to book transport in advance?
Yes, wherever possible. Advance notice helps us coordinate volunteers and schedules.
Cleaning & Lawn Care
What cleaning services are available?
Cleaning services may include general household cleaning to help maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
What lawn care services are available?
Lawn care support may include mowing and basic outdoor maintenance.
How often can these services be provided?
This depends on availability and individual circumstances. Our team will discuss options with you.
Volunteering (The Pink Army)
Who are the Pink Army?
The Pink Army is our incredible community of volunteers who support HBCF through events, transport services and behind-the-scenes help.
What volunteer roles are available?
Volunteer roles vary and may include:
- Event support
- Transport driving
- Administration or fundraising assistance
Do I need any experience to volunteer?
No prior experience is required for most roles. Training and support are provided where needed.
How do I become a volunteer?
You can express your interest via our Volunteer page, and our team will be in touch with next steps.
Is there a screening process for volunteers?
Yes. Some roles require checks such as background screening to ensure safety and suitability.
Fundraising & Donations
How is HBCF funded?
HBCF is funded entirely by our community through donations, fundraising events, community fundraisers and partnerships.
Can I make a donation?
Yes. Donations can be made online through our Donations page, or you can pop in to our office at 10d Bradford Close, Kotara, or phone us on (02) 4033 1500.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. Donations to HBCF are tax deductible, and you’ll receive a receipt for your records.
Can I donate regularly?
Yes. You can become a regular (monthly) donor by joining our HBCF Circle of Support.
Can I fundraise for HBCF?
Absolutely. We welcome community fundraisers of all kinds — big or small. Learn more on our Community Fundraising page.
Do you have fundraising guidelines?
Yes. Our team can provide guidance to help ensure your fundraiser is safe, compliant and successful.
